Hello Lovelies....
How are you doing today, I hope well! I am fantastic, busy as usual!
I wanted to try a little watercolour in my planner and I thought you might like a little look at my paper test!
As you know, I am a tried and true Happy Planner girl but last year I fell in love with the inserts from Lights Planner Action. I am actually thinking about going back to a classic size HP with new inserts from LPA for the new year. I rarely carry my planner with me since I have my phone and I loved doing the memory planning and creative journalling so back into a bigger planner I go!
I digress...back to the paint, I love the look of the watercolour but I don't want a bunch of bleed through or wrinkly paper. This would make me HATE my planner, and no one wants that! I apologize in advance for the crappy photos but I forgot to turn on the light and I didn't want to redo them all...crappy or not, they show what I wanted to see.
Here we go:
I picked up a simple watercolour pallet and water brush from Michaels
and set out to test some standard planner papers - 28 Lb bond, LPA inserts and HP notepaper.
Here is what I found:
28 LB Bond

| Front of the paper |

| Back of paper |
So the 28 lb bond is okay, but the colour didn't go on smoothly and there is a bit of wrinkling, no colour bleed through which could probably be covered up? I think if you were going to do an ombre header on a full-page this would be messy - too messy for me anyway.
Happy Planner Note Paper

As you can see the happy planner paper made a really beautiful watercolour mark but there was considerable wrinkling of the paper. No colour bleed through though, which means you could possibly cover up the wrinkling with a sticker but means you need to know both sides of the paper before you do it.
LPA Inserts

The LPA paper was gorgeous to paint on and produced a lovely watercolour mark with little wrinkling and almost no bleed through at all - a winner!
